About Minooka Park Trails

Minooka Park is located southeast of the City of Waukesha, just west of Milwaukee. The beginner loop (green) is 1.5 miles long and will treat you to a taste of wooded singletrack and rolling prairie trail that will keep anyone entertained. Venture out to the 4 mile long intermediate loop (blue) and you will be treated to a variety of tight singletrack, challenging climbs and flowing descents to keep you on your toes!

General Rules of the Trail

  1. Have fun.
  2. Bicycles only. No foot, horse, etc traffic. Class 1 eBicycles are allowed (see E-Bike section below). Other motorized vehicles of any type, even electric, are not allowed.
  3. Trail is one-way only. Signs indicate direction of travel.
  4. MTBs are only allowed on the designated MTB Trails in the Park. Hiking/Ski trails are not legal MTB trails. This also applies to NICA groups.
  5. Do not ride when trail is closed or ride the wide doubletrack when the MTB trail is closed (or ever, see #4)
  6. South side of Area 5 Parking Lot is for MTB trail users. The north side is for shelter users/reservations. If south side of area 5 lot is full, please use other lots and ride to the trailhead at Area 5.


Class 1 eMTBs are allowed. Class 1 is a bike with pedals, that is pedal-assist only, with assistance up to 20mph. No Throttle lever/grip is allowed. Class 2 and Class 3 eMTBs are not allowed. Motorcycles, both gas/electric are not allowed on the trail.

Getting There

Waukesha County’s Minooka Park is located southeast of Waukesha. From I-94, exit at Barker Rd., travel south to Greenfield Ave., turn right and travel west to Hwy 164. Left on 164, south to Sunset, turn left on Sunset. Enter Minooka Park off of Sunset Dr. and follow the main park road all the way to the end. The trailhead is on the south side of the Picnic Area 5. There is a daily park entrance fee of $5.00 or you can purchase an annual sticker at the park entrance ($32 in 2018).
